Fire watch services in Ontario: local requirements and logbook
Ontario Fire Department Standard E-001 assigns patrol frequency according to occupancy: every 15 minutes for sleeping, institutional and occupied assembly uses, and every 30 minutes for other occupancies. The fire official determines the locations and duration of the watch.
Keep an on-site log available for inspection with the property address, patrol times, personnel and activities, together with an emergency directory. Contact Fire Prevention at 909-395-2029 to coordinate the impairment, expected duration and current site instructions. The January 2025 standard references the 2022 California Fire Code; confirm the requirements currently applicable to your property and obtain the department’s direction before ending coverage.
